Our Mission

Cambridge Streets for All (CSA) believes ANY systematic changes to our street infrastructure should be based on thoughtful planning, consideration of alternatives, and the use of qualified professionals to do traffic, parking, safety and economic analysis. Outreach from the City to and engagement of residents and small businesses who are most directly affected is critical to any plan developed.

Our Pledge

We pledge to advocate for an open, democratic process in the development of City policies and regulations that includes those residents and business owners who will be affected as well as those who use the streets,

We pledge to advocate for City policies and laws based on verified, hard data and impact analysis prepared and reviewed by qualified experts to inform public input and decision making, and

We pledge to inform citizens and businesses of existing public policies and their impacts across the City, and work with neighborhoods that are losing, or have lost, parking due to separated bike lane implementation.

We Believe:

Street parking for small businesses is essential for their survival as they rely on customers from a broad geography, not just Cambridge. Many residences were built without off street parking and have no option to add parking. As a result, many residents depend on the availability to access on-street parking. Additionally, the character of our neighborhoods is being changed from decades of city planning to keep non-residential traffic out of our neighborhoods to protect children, families, the elderly and the vulnerable. With the relocation of loading zones and metered parking onto residential side streets, the Department of Traffic, Parking & Transportation’s (TP&T) implementation of the CSO has instead caused an influx of commercial traffic and a reduction in residential parking. This makes us ALL less safe. In some cases, TP&T has tried to do minor remediation, but remediation of harm after the fact is no way to plan.
